I tried an all-meat-only diet for 30 days! I share all my Carnivore Diet recipes & meal ideas to get you started. Curious about a zero-carb diet, start here!
The carnivore diet is a meat only diet where you can lose weight fast and transform your health. I did a 30 days challenge, and honestly I was surprised by the nutrition and health benefits.
The Carnivore Diet is a nutrient based diet that only includes meat, fish, and other animal foods like eggs and certain dairy products. It excludes all other foods, including fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, nuts, and seeds.
The Carnivore Diet stems from the controversial belief that human ancestral populations ate mostly meat and fish and that high-carb diets are to blame for today’s high rates of chronic disease.
Other popular low-carb diets, like the keto and paleo diets, limit but don’t exclude carb intake. However, the Carnivore Diet aims for zero carbs.
The first thing that happened is that I was able to eat until I was comfortably stuffed. There is no calorie counting or portion control with the carnivore diet. With a carnivore diet you only eat animal based foods. So that could be meat, seafood, eggs and you can eat as much as you need to be entirely full.
We’re constantly told to eat less and restrict calories, well I did the complete opposite and lost 5 pounds in 30 days.
The Carnivore Diet is a zero carb diet. It may seem a little restrictive but the goal is to rapid weight loss, and entirely transforming your health.
The big idea is you’re eating zero carbs to push your body into what’s called ketosis or a fat burning state. When you deprive your body of carbohydrates and sugar and use your fat store as energy. If you want to know more about ketosis you can click here: https://www.5minutebody.com.au/
There’s an observational study by Dr Ludwig, that showed over 2000 people on the carnivore diet over 20 months experienced improvements in health, energy and overall satisfaction. Also interestingly the study showed blood markers like LDL cholesterol and blood pressure remained the same.
Since the Carnivore Diet excludes carbs, it eliminates cookies, cakes, candy, sodas, pastries, and similar high-carb foods.
These foods are low in beneficial nutrients and often high in calories. Thus, they should be limited in a healthy, balanced diet.
High Sugar foods can also be problematic for people with diabetes, as they can spike blood sugar levels. In fact, limiting refined carbs and sugary foods is often recommended to control diabetes.
However, the complete elimination of carbs on the Carnivore Diet is not recommended or necessary for diabetes management. Instead, eating smaller amounts of wholesome, high-fiber carbs that don’t cause spikes in blood sugar is recommended
